CODE OF CONDUCT

A Code of Conduct sets guidelines and principles designed to benefit all participants of the game which includes players, parents, spectators, coaches, managers, referees and officials.

PLAYERS

  • Be a good sport.  Respect good play by your team and your opponents.  Shake hands and thank the opposition after the game, win lose or draw.

  • Play for your own fun and enjoyment.

  • A good player is a self-disciplined person.  Never become involved in acts of foul play.

  • Never argue with the Referee or any officials who are there to help you. 

  • Accept and respect the Referee's decision.  Don't complain or argue about calls or decisions during or after the game.

  • Never disrespect others by the use of obscene language, offensive discriminating remarks or sledging.

  • Work hard on your own game and be a team player.

  • The Rules are to ensure Fair Play.  Play to the Rules and the Referee's whistle.

PARENTS & SPECTATORS

  • Condemn all acts of violence or foul play whether they are by players, coaches, officials, parents or spectators.

  • Accept and respect the Referee's decision.  Don't complain or argue about calls or decisions during or after the game.

  • Refrain from unsportsmanlike language, harassment or aggressive behaviour.

  • Be positive and avoid harsh criticism or ridicule towards a player for making a mistake.

  • Show respect for all and commitment to their wellbeing

  • Teach respect for authority and the rules.

COACHES & MANAGERS

  • Discourage all acts of violence or foul play and unsportsmanlike behaviour

  • Never allow an injured player to participate in a game.  Always consider the health, safety and welfare of your players.

  • Accept and respect the Referee's decision.  Don't complain or argue about calls or decisions during or after the game.

  • Be positive and avoid harsh criticism or ridicule towards a player for making a mistake.

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the rules and pass this knowledge on to your players.

  • Conduct yourself in a manner that shows respect for the game and the participants involved in the game.

  • Lead by example and don't adopt a "win at all costs" approach to the game.

REFEREES

  • Be impartial, consistent in your decisions, objective and courteous in your approach.

  • Avoid verbal confrontation with coaches, parents and spectators during the game.

  • Set a good example by the way you communicate with all participants in the game.

  • Avoid any situation that may lead to a conflict of interest, on and off the field.

  • Maintain an appropriate level of physical and mental fitness.

  • Know the rules, inside and out.  Remember that players, parents and spectators have access to this site and as such, are able to download and learn the rules as well.

  • Condemn and act on all and every instance of unsportsmanlike, foul or unfair play.

  • Any referee who, as a player, is dismissed from a game automatically receives a 2 match suspension from refereeing.

  • Any referee who, as a player, criticises another referee's performance is guilty of misconduct and automatically receives a 2 match suspension from refereeing.
